Anchored in Truth

I’ve been asked more than once: “How much of Chasing Echoes is real, and how much did you make up?”
The answer isn’t as clean as people hope. Those who were there know the truth. Those who know me already recognize the weight in those pages. And some of what actually happened may never make it to paper because even if I told it, no one would believe it.
For now, I’ll settle with this: every story is anchored in truth.
The difference between fact and fiction blurs quickly when you’ve lived through enough chaos. Sometimes the truth sounds impossible. Sometimes fiction is the only way to make reality digestible.
If you’ve read Between the Echoes, you already carry a deeper sense of how “true” some of these stories are. If you haven’t… maybe you’ll read Chasing Echoes and find yourself asking the same question.
Here’s the part I want to leave you with: Think about the story you carry, the one so unbelievable it would only ever be classified as fiction. Would anyone believe you if you told it? Or would they file it away as imagination?
We all have one.
